*Tap-tap-tap* Is this thing on?
We've been having an interesting few weeks.
Between the anthology and holidays and whatnot, we've discovered (well, I already knew) how beneficial chatting can be.
You see, while we were working on our books, we needed quick answers. So most of us were on Skype, nagging each other. We brainstormed. We ran sections of our respective MSS past each other. We fixed what needed to be fixed, and collaborated on things where our books cross paths.
And then we were done — but we were still signed into Skype every day. And night. And whenever.
More people joined, we had at least seven or eight in one chat at one point, and we just never signed out.
Every time someone gets on and says hi, we just pick up where we left off, in the same chat. We talk about our books, characters, editing, working on NaNo, what we're having for lunch and whether we should wash the dog or not.
Someone is always signed on, and it's nice to get a reply even at O'Dawn Thirty.
Ex-member, new member or old timer – we're bonding here. Far more than we have before.
If you've never tried it, it's about time. Get your writing friends together and try it out. There's nothing like being able to run a sentence you're not sure about past someone and get a response. "Is the comma right?" "Should I use this word?" "Does anyone have a better suggestion?" "My conflict is this, will it work?" "Help, I'm stuck!" — you name it. It really is beneficial.
Heck, I catch up on video with some every now and then, which is a blast. We commiserate and cheer each other on.
How did I ever get this far, without having that Skype chat open?
So if you and your writing buddies have never brainstormed together, try this out. You can have up to ten people in one chat (I think, maybe more now.) and it's a blast.
Not to mention you get a lot closer with everyone.
Go for it!

Very beneficial and Dangerous! lol

Not to mention the friends and writing partners you connect without needing a passport to visit them.
This truly has been a godsend. When I feel a little down in the dumps, feel like my writing is well… sucking for lack of a better word, my girls are there to make me laugh, push me over that wall of self doubt, and just making my day better. Love this topic Silke!

Yeah, in between *someone* — we won't mention names *cough* *Penny* *cough* — clicking the "Conference call" option and then closing it in a panic… and clicking it again, and closing it… and… yeah. Heheheheh

I JUST downloaded Skype this evening, and I have no friends.

Hope everyone is well.
It's been so long. I'm so glad to hear about the Holiday stories coming out for some of you. Congratulations!
