I like a rejection letter that is helpful too. Not a “not right for us” but a “I didn’t understand your character’s motivation” kind of thing.
It doesn’t have to be a laundry list of problems, but one or two areas listed can shed a lot of light.

I hate the “this just isn’t right for us” generic response. Yes, a little more detail would be great and leave less to my imagination (which could involve matches and bonfire!)
